Adult Learners

I have found that if a younger student connects with an older student, they both tend to have success in the classroom because they can encourage each other. Older students tend to play the mother/father role to the younger less experienced student. These types of students also are a help in retaining younger students. Younger students on the other hand can help the older student understand the information, use technology, and study for test. Older students can also be a great support system for younger students who lack transportation to school since some of them have cars.

MIRIAM,
The younger students need to learn how to work with different age groups because they will when they are out in the work world. By working with older students they can gain a respect for the life experiences that older students bring to the class. In addition the older students can appreciate the skills the younger students bring as well.

I agree, the older to younger student relationship can be most beneficial to both parties. I have experienced how they support and guide each other and found that both received equal success as a result. They also, work well together in projects and study groups.
