Refocusing your attention
I have learned there are many teaching methods. It may work to have the students present the material to help keep them engaged. Students enjoy being the teacher at times. I have found that if a student is given a topic they work really hard to develop that topic for group discussions and presentations.
Good idea some students like to be up front and show off there knowledge and some more quite students like to work in groups you need to know your students and what makes them shine.
I find that as a class we tend to loose focus around mid term. In order to try and re focus I like to take a "time-out" to go over the learning objectives set out in the syllabus and talk to the whole class about each one. Finding out how the students think they are doing helps me to refocus myself as well as lectures moving forward.
When ever I feel that I am starting to lsoe my motivation, I encourage students to take topics in groups. This seems to get me reengaged.
