motivated

how can i keep a student motivated in todays job market?

I would suggest also implementing their personal professions to allow the student to eleborate on relating their personal experience with their educational experience within the classroom. This opens up dialog for all the students to share and relate their personal experiences also.

I have the advantage that many of my prior students come back after they have finished their externships. I ask them to address the class and discuss what had happened during the training in the field. This not only helps my students but also creates excitement in me for the programs I teach.

Occasionally I also have prior students come visit after they have been working in the field for several months. With them comes the stories of advancement and opportunitites in the discipline they have chosen. It definately helps motivate my current students.

I really like talking about specifics and information geared towards the indivdual student. For example, I would talk to that student about networking with companies that interest them or discussing local opportunites they could pursue once graduating.

Hi Dennis,
Bring in guest speakers, I like to use successful graduates. Even with a tight market the graduates can get the students excited about what they are learning and how they can create a future for themselves.
