Customer Service can be defined as ensuring that our students get the most information out of us and utilizing us as much as they can. I always want my students to have the best experience and it really comes from me first.
Hi Ghaleb,
You have it! Students are the reason we have jobs! I want to do all I can for my students so that I can have a job.
Patricia Scales
Unfortunetially the educational sector is still not clear on how to view the students as the primary customers. Colleges must view the students as real customers. Also it must be clear that without them there will be no jobs.
Hi Melissa,
Absolutely! It is easy with respect! Respect is what I have practiced for 25+ years with my students.
Patricia Scales
I think its pretty simple, respect your students and set expectations for each stakeholder has a buy in.
Hi Jeff,
Make learning fun! Students are more engaged and retain more when learning is made fun!
Patricia Scales
yes the student must come to class ready to perform. Then the instructor can or should deliver the course info in a fun and exciting way
Hi Chan,
Yes, bottom line is that we must equipped our students to be quality employees to employers. Graduating is definitely the end in mind!

Hi Wania,
Yes, this is certainly one way to look at customer service. As instructors, we must do our due diligence to produce an environment for effective learning to take place.
Patricia Scales
As you mentioned in the lesson, customer service is different in education than it is in a traditional business setting however, in an educational setting one must still take the time to make sure students have the necessary information need to excel. Also the climate of the educational setting must be one where everyone keeps the end in mind; students successfully graduating from their intended program.
Customer service in a classroom setting refers providing a service to the student that ensures a comfortable, conflict free learning environment.
Hi Tracy,
I let my students know that they must take full charge of the job search process and that the Placement Department was only one avenue to finding a job. There are many resources that can be utilize to land employement.
Patricia Scales
Customer service in the educational setting is especially important now, with reports of students graduating and not being able to secure employment. The students need to know that their education is being taken seriously. They also need to know that they have a great deal to do with their own success. With collaboration between the student and the learning institution, the student should feel confident in the product, as well as the own energy invested into the their learning experience.
Hi James,
I concur! Actually, I have found this scenario to be true with all schools. We must do our due diligence to produce a qulaity employee because the institution's reputation is on the line.
Patricia Scales
Unlike a traditional business customer, the learning customer is not purchasing a product that he knows will perform a function for him like a toaster oven or television set or a computer. He is paying for an education that he hopes will help him achieve a higher standard of living and better quality of life. To that end the educational facility must perceive the learner not as someone who is merely paying for a service, but as an individual with their own special set of needs, wants and desires, as well as problems and concerns that must be dealt with on an individual level. The learner's education must be put before the company's need to make a profit, because at the end of it all, when the learner completes his education and goes out into the workforce, he or she then becomes the product of the educational institute where they were enrolled. And their performance then directly reflects upon the educational institute's ability to field quality trained workers. This is particularly true of technology schools.
Hi Bruno,
Yes!!! Students need to feel like they are our priority because indeed they are! We need to give them our all and all on a daily basis.
Patricia Scales
Students are paying for their education so everything in that school has to be about the student. Provide them with the best of the best.
Hi Joseph,
Nicely stated! Our students should be given our best every day. We need to thoroughly prepare them so that they are successful in the real world.
Patricia Scales
Just like anything else, when you purchase something you are expecting the best of the best. When the product you buy is education you should be getting the best of the best. By showing our students that we appreciate them, as well as treating them like you would like to be treated before, during, and after the sale. We just need to remember that the purchase the students are making will effect them for their whole life.
Hi Jim,
You have it! We certainly need to give our students their money's worth. We should share all the knowledge we have with our students so that they can come productive employees.
