Building Rapport
I have found that students are more motivated and engaged in succeeding in the course when a rapport is built without the first two classes.
I have found it to be two-fold when relating content to real life experience. I have some students who remember the "story" which helps them during quizzes, and a few have told me they could care less about my stories as they don't find it helpful and they tune out.
That is a good point. Keeping students motivated and engaged will help them stay focused.
very true . easier to make that connection when you have that relationship with the student
Understanding student mindset and making that bond- is always a plus point.
Yes, relating real life situations definitely promotes retention in my experiences.
I always relate real life situatuations to subject matter.
