Control

Often times, colleagues take it the wrong way when you do not get back with them right away. I feel there is an importance of communicating your reason for delaying your response to them. Is there a better way to address colleagues who want your immediate response?

Chip

Yvette, Sounds like you know yourself well. Yes, many people have challenges with control. What we ultimately must accept is that we are the only people we can control and predict. Everyone else is going to do what they want, and sometimes that's not what we want of them.

I have control issue. I don't like when somebody doesn't return my email or call me back within a reasonable time.

Chip, Yes, it's critical to set expectations when you don't think you can deliver within an expected time period. I understand what you mean about everyone expecting things right away. Sometimes a simple email or call acknowledging the request, and setting expectations on when it will be fulfilled, is all it takes.
