The avoidance and procrastination are probably the largest stressors.

Carl, That's a really interesting point and one that I haven't heard in quite a while. Thank you for the reminder. Yes, sometimes our expectations of ourselves can be paralyzing and we must adjust expectations to move forward.

There is also the aspect of perfectionism in procrastination. Procrastination can result from believing that your work will never be good enough.
Erika, Sometimes it's easier to just jump in, to your point. Fretting over a task can be stressful indeed. Sometimes when we jump in, we discover that a task is a lot easier than we though.

Agreed. Knowing that there is something lingering with a due date out there can make life more stressful. Continusouly thinking about it instead of just starting will lead to more stress and worry.
What ever the task that needs to be accomplished you need to put in the proper time management. How long will it take me to complete it and can I do it in my time frame? Take control and start the task.
I agree with that. To be a diver you must have will and courage. Just the same when you are starting something you are unfamiliar with.
I like this. Just dive in & do it. Identifying those tasks I don't like doing is 1st step. For me paperwork with insurances piles up & is like a monkey on my back daily.
I agree! Starting is definitely the hardest part. One you start whatever tasks that needs to be accomplished, the stress and anxiety will almost always be squandered.
“Take the first step, and your mind will mobilize all its forces to your aid. But the first essential is that you begin. Once the battle is startled, all that is within and without you will come to your assistance.†- Robert Collier
An old art teacher of mine used to tell us, the hardest part of creating a work of art is starting. His advice was to "be a diver". Don't overthink...just dive in, and cross those bridges when you find them. This carries over into all aspects of procrastination.
