Stress free living
I like the idea of eliminating and reducing what stressor there are that fit those categories. I think once that is done, the other stressors that cannot be eliminated will now seem as if they can be at least dealt with. These are good examples to take to the students. They can feel loads of stess just like the instructors, but they also look to instructors to be good examples. Very good tips to deal with stress.
I agree with you totally. Putting our stressors on paper takes it to a new level. It puts the stressors right in front of our face. I think that making a list makes the problem more pertinent or at least we become more aware of it.
This is true Devon. There are vast individual differences in what works best for people. The key is understanding what works best for you and those who you care for.
I think the best advice to relieve stress is finding what works for you. There is no common denominator that works for all people or cases.
Exercise is a great method for some people, but for others it may be sitting done with a crosword puzzle, or watching their favorite TV progam, uninterupted, in a quiet room. What is important is finding something you like and enjoy, and then treating yourself to that particular activity.
What a wonderful coping mechanism Michael. You are lucky to have that hot tub waiting for you!
My trick to remaining calm and not feeling stress is that I know no matter what happens, I'm going to get in my hot-tub as soon as I get home. Everything else just melts away.
I agree, if they are less stressed so am I. The trick is to stay calm.
I also use relaxation techniques before exams which help.
"Taking it out on paper" is a great way of putting it Donald!
I've got to admit that I really like the stress list, but I found that I already use many of those techniques mentioned. Therefore, maybe using the list from now on will help me "talk it out" on paper.
Our students indeed look to us to be good examples. Sharing stress reduction techniques with them can absolutely help. And when my students are less stressed, I find that I am less stressed too!
