Prior to this workshop, I tend to believe that there was nothing that could be eliminated, so I focused on managing the stressors by exercising. What I have learned is that I can and, in some cases, should eliminate stressors. My husband and I are so busy with work that we cannot keep our house as clean as it should be. For this reason, we have considered hiring a person to come in and clean on a semi-regular basis. To make sure it doesn't eat up a lot of our budget, we will try not to eat out as much!

Wow, sounds like you've really gotten into yoga Cheryl. That's great. Many people have reported on fantastic benefits of yoga. Really helps with relaxing and feeling good.

Is this how you deal with stress today Joseph? It sounds like a great process. I just wonder if you have found a way to be effective at it.

You are very lucky in this economy to have had the chance to change jobs Mary. Good for you!

Hello Everyone,

Considering some stress related things can not be removed exercise, and taking deep breaths are ways to cope with stress.

I eliminated stress by changing jobs. If I continue to experience similar stress I will look at how efficiently and effectively I am using my time by sharing with others.

For myself, I would first categorize the source of stress. Then decide on a plan to minimize the source, or deal with the source by putting things in perspective and not personalizing the stress.

Five years ago, I started taking basic Yoga classes offered very cheaply thru the city. I have since taken 8 beginner's courses and will continue to do so because the stretching has such amazing and immediate results.

Sounds like a great plan Greg. I recommend starting small and exercising just a few hours a week. Then work your way up.

I would definately like to get back to exercise and wieght loss. I've gained a lot of wiegth this summer and not been near my bikes near as much as I would like.

Greg

Treadmills are really great Misty. And there are some relatively affordable models available for the home too.

That's excellent to hear Jennifer. Yes, even walking around in your own building can make a big difference on your stress levels. You don't have to go far to cope with stress. Some techniques can really be executed anywhere.

Breath... i think that is the best thing to do when you dont know what else to do. its relaxing

I have been doing the breathing and walking around the building this has helped a lot!!!

Whenever I feel very stressed, I run on the treadmill. It's amazing how much this helps!

I plan on coping with my stressors by not holding of it in and sharing with the people I care about. I also plan to breath a little more, which is something I often forget to do.

It's good that you can see the difference between your healthy and unhealthy coping mechanisms John. That's a nice start. Now it's time to focus on spending more time on the good and less time on the bad. It doesn't have to be perfect. Just try to increase doing the things you do right.

I have to be honest I use both the Healthy asd unhealthy coping mechanisms. I enjoy Caffine but I don't have to have it. I gave up smoking about two and half months ago and that was stressful. Which I thought helped my deal with stress but I found it to really be a time waster and very unhealthful. I have been practicing medation for years and this focus on your breathing helps in so many ways. I like to call my brother and we will both vent about our jobs. Never relaized it was healthy.

To cope with stressors I would like to try to get back into meditation and receive massages more often.

I will continue to workout at the gym because this is a huge stress buster for me. I will also continue to stretch everyday, which also helps a lot.

Yes, exercising and breathing are both great coping mechanisms Mary. I especially like breathing techniques because you can do them anywhere.
