The weather can definitely impact our ability and desire to take long walks with pets. But note there are still many activities that we can do inside with pets that also help us cope with stress. Just throwing a rope toy back and forth with your pet, for example, is a great way to take a mental break. Your pet will of course enjoy this break too.
These are great ideas Gil! Thanks for sharing!
I use long walks with my dog in a quiet setting as a way to cope; I have slacked off on this lately due to severly bad weather but intend to pick back up on it.
I agree. The balencing of work, school and family can be tough but there are ways to cope.
Do what I have been doing and that is just talking with my wife about how things went. Expressing my frustration with work helps reduce my stress. The work I do now is a heatlhier lifestyle and not nearly as stressful as to what I did before.
Closing my eyes for a few minutes, opening my hands and releasing stress.
The bouquet of common herbs can help too.
try to share more with other and excersise more
It's definitely a challenge to not let the little things bother you Jason. Sometimes taking a step back helps.
It sounds like you have multitasking down to a science Louis. Yes, it's great to plan out your day while exercising. It's the perfect time to think and get organized.
I will cope with stress by not letting the little things bother me and I will also learn to deal with my passion for immediacy by knwoing that it's alright to take things and stride and accomplsih task little by little when it is warranted.
I am pleased to see that my coping with stress is one of your suggestions. I exercise daily before school. I do not use an IPOD because I use the time to line up my day in order of time, priority and amount of effort needed for each issue.
I find that humor is a great stress reliever, coupled with healthy living it makes all the difference in the world for me
Lists seem to be a great place to start
A yoga class sounds great. And if you don't have time to drive to a class, there are also classes on TV and through DVDs.
I think that I will take my break time between classes to take a 10 minute walk around the building. Incorporating additional exercise like walking in the mornings will help as well.
I will try some deep breathing techniques before and after class. I have also been thinking about starting a yoga class on the weekend to help me relax. Walking for twenty or thirty minutes every night with my dog helps too.
I already do much of what has been suggested in this module to reduce stress and it does work. I have eliminated much of my stress. Sharing, I believe, helps the most. At least it did for me during the time I had the most stress in my life. I have, also, learned to adjust my thinking to accept what I cannot control. It is hard, but it is something you have to do.
In the future, I will do more sharing with my close friends. At first, it was hard for me, but it is getting easier and I notice that the pressure seems to be relieved after I have shared.
This is a great list Julia. Yes, breathing exercises are a great method and can take place anywhere.
Slow down just a little but, think about good and bad habits, get a good amount of rest and exercise.I get great stress releaf doing breathing exercises.
The positive coping mechanisms that I use are good sleeping habits which include:
- Not watching "shoot'em up and killing movies" before bedtime
- Exercisizing (by walking my dog, walking on steps at work, and doing regular stretches before bedtime
- Eating appropriate food and the right amounts
- Talking to my sister and friends when I need to vent my concerns
- Always remembering to deep breathe, because God will never give us any challenges that we cannot overcome.
These are all good ideas and usually work, but stress sneaks up on us anyways. So, it is a constant battle for us to overcome to avoid bad health conditions to include depression and low immune conditions which can cause further disease including cancers. That is why it is imperative for me to stay at a low stress level as I am a 3X Cancer Survivor as I previously stated.
