One of the biggest things you need to become an IDE is how to keep the students involved with the subject by asking the questions to different students, also changing your voice levels. That is only two of many. Tony Herman

Maintaining your status as an instructional delivery expert requires preperation, confidence,
up to date knowlege of the subjet matter your teahing and your delivery method.By having all your materials necassary for your lesson plans allows for a smooth delivery of the information and helps show confidence.Continuing with training seminars also keeps you up to date with new products and tehnology entering the market plus gives a look at the different instructors methods of delivery and motivatiion

I always watch student reactions to what I am trying to get across, & I will cover difacult subjects several differant ways. When they start asking questiuns I am on the right track

To keep myself as a IDE I am always keeping up to date with my Knowledge of my subject matter and i also look for new and interesting ideas to present to the students.I feel if I lack the knowledge how are the students benefiting from that.

How we can improve is with better power point presentations, like animation of the devices or systems we are presenting so the student can view an action instead of just two dimentional views.

I try to have several ways to explain a concept. Because each class is a little different, it sometimes takes a different approach to get points across. If I sense that a student or group of students are not fully understanding the topic, I will try and have some kind of back-up explanation ready. I will try and get the different approaches from watch or talking with other instructors, researching, or sometimes just trying to ponder the situation myself to come up with ideas.

As for the second question, delivery of the material in a manner that excites the students can be a challenge. Sometimes I get to a subject that is very difficult to get students excited about it. And maybe it is because I have difficulty getting excited myself. But that goes back to finding ways to make something out of very little.

There are many methods I use in order to maintain my status a IDE. For one, there are different types of soft skill classes that I take which help give me different ideas on my delivery method. Another method I find very helpful is getting feedback from my students, managers, and peers. I also find it very beneficial to sit in in other instructor classes and see another form of delivery.

To keep my status as an IDE, I do many things; I subscribe to four industry magazines and webzines, I also go to manufacturer sponsored classes, I visit shops frequently to see if there are any current changes in process or procedure. I also attend Instructor seminars and training, such as STAR training. I think the area where instructors need the most help is to keep enough variety in our delivery and not to become to comfortable in doing only one way. easier for us, boring for the students.

Doing CEE and other online courses and also off line active training to stay current. Staying current with changing applications of technology. Using the new material so that it can be interjected into the course as discussion material. This helps direct student attention toward the future and his place in it.
Most instructors are so beat up/tired after a double shift they do not have time to partake of training if it is offered.

When ever I take a training class I abserve how the Instructor presents his material and delivery method. Sometimes I will try some of thier methods. When I get the chance I will observe other Instuctors also. I also enject some of my own on the job experiances that pertaines to the material I am teaching.

I agree with you Tom, each class is a little different as far as the way they learn. Some classes are a little more high speed and some you need to slow it down a bit.

I maintain my status as an Instructional Delivery Expert by giving examples of my experiences out in the field. I can back up the materials that I am teaching with real live situations that I have been involved with in the field. This hopefully gives me a little creditability as a IDE. I also monitor the test scores and make sure the students are not missing the same questions every time. That way I know I am covering all the imformation the y need to pass the test.

i try to keep the class up to date using a virety of media. i bring in current events relating to the topic we discuss. the class seems to enjoy this and it helps them to know what is expected when they leave school

At the beginning of the course I give out examples of my career experiences and discuss the importance of mastering the basics as well as specific product knowledge. This gives the students a "bird's eye" view of what might be expected of them and the WIFM for the particular couse that is being taught. As a former college graduate and then technician I feel that as a technical trainer we have to attempt to put ourselves in the shoes of the students and help them build a dream and a vision for their future automotive career. To maintain a high level of technical skill as instructors we need to re-visit the dealerships often to regain touch with the repair side of the industry. Also, getting more trainig and observing other instructors deliver their class materials can help us see other methods and help improve our flexibility as an instructor.

I try to keep updated with the latest and greatest information available regarding the subject matter that I am teaching. Ford Training has been a big help to me along with CEE training in helping me become a better IDE instructor. I have found that observing other instructors delivering material to their classes has been very beneficial to me, it doesn't necessarily have to be subject matter that I am teaching to be beneficial to me. I am sure that most instructors would agree that demonstrated techniques and teaching skills demonstrated in a class room environment is one of the best ways to learn how to deliver better class room presentations.

The key to becoming an Instructional Delivery Expert (I.D.E.) is life long learning. By that I mean that we learn from all sources possible; for instance, this C.E.E. course. We also learn from each other. As instructors share their classroom experiences with each other knowledge is exchanged. I think instructors could use help showing their classes the value in the knowledge that the instructor is imparting to them. We all know so well that they will need this information that we don’t realize that the students may not fully appreciate the need for a given block of instruction.

I try to show the students what's in it for them, and why the class will help them succeed in the field. Undercar is " the basics", skills that they are expected to know when they start working. It's hard to motivate some students, but CEE courses have given some good ideas for working with them. I've been lucky to crosstrain under some very good instructors and I try to use the techniques they have shown me.

I discus and ask for feed back from my students. I find that if their is an open answer and question time I can find the strengths and weaknesses of the discussion time and then some of it can be addressed at that time. The other thing to look for is the expressions on the faces of the students.

I use the CEE modules and the former CBSD modules, and any training classes that are offered. The most helpful thing I do though is to compare teaching techniques and strategies to enhance my delivery method and style.

I keep up with new concepts and technology in the area of my classes. I do this through classes and reading with research to inform and bring new ideas to class. I am always looking for new and better ways to present the materials to my students. I challenge my students in class by raising the bar of the class. This has to include constant encouragment and fun in the classroom and lab. Always there to help.

make sure students are aware of what is expected in the phase. Keep students involved and motivated in subject matter. Have open descution with students on what they think they should learn, then explane to them how the course will help. Instuctors need help in getting and maintaining class attention and how to motavate a class.
