Great points mentioned! Generation Y wants more technological assignments. Each assignment should have a purpose pertaining to the course to produce a quality graduate for the workforce.

I do the binder thing as well. I was recently on a medical leave and upon returning I will not have a class to teach for 4 weeks so I have decided to go through my binders. I have found that some of the assignments I give are more busy work and don't add that much to the course. So I have taken these assignments out and found some other activities to replace them or restructred the lecture to include discussions to enhance the material. I strongly believe that we as instructors need to periodlically evaluate what we do in the class for its effectiveness and what worked 2 years ago may no longer work. Student populations change and we need to change with them.
