Engaging the Students

How much does making the course seem fun, get in the way of the task of the academic learning process? How does the tone of the class reflect how seriously they'll take the work?

Students are motivated whenever you bring in guest speakers/profesionals in the area.

I have had a great deal of success with bringing in professionals in the field on the first day of class. It generates a great deal of discussion and heightens the students' interest in the area taught.

Yes the more the students can give feedback of real life experience about a topic will allow them more insight and understanding of the topic

Any serious business can be done in a fun way without getting in the way of the final achievement of that business. It just takes time and effort to find out what excites my students as they learn, what makes them engaged in learning process. Once when I find that out, the only thing left to do is to facilitate activities in the classroom or lab since students are the ones that want to keep the tone of once established learning process knowing what is expected from them as well as from me.

Incoporate fun with the learning so that you stay on point academically, even in the workplace employees have fun. As the saying goes, all work and no play makes Johnny a dull boy.

Most students enjoy a challenge. We need to challenge our students because it is not easy in the real world.
