Handling "one up" students
How do you handle, defuse, students who feel the need to consistently "one up" the material being presented/discussed in class?
I have experience with the one-up students but I always thank them and remind them that "no one knows everything about anything," and I have forgotten more than they need to learn. We cannot teach them everything they need to learn and we should not fool ourselves into thinking we can. We are teaching them to become entry level personel. We teach them the basics and it is up to them to expound on the information and make it past the 90 days.
Hi Denise,
We have to be careful with one-uping because remember we are the professionals. If you one-up them back remain professional and handle this with a lot of tact.
Patricia
One-up them back, if you can.
I dont pay attention to them
