One thing that I do is set the classroom in a way they can not see the other's exam, another way is to make different exams.

Hi Gregory,
This is a sure to minimize cheating. Always remember, there are some students that will cheat alone by using cheat sheets, cell phones, notes written in hand, notes writen on desk, etc.

Hi Delmera,
Yes, and also the instructor has to be on their feet to fully see what's going on during test time. There are some students that will cheat alone using other means other than another student.
Patricia

I agree. During exams I always spread the students out in seats they normally do not sit in. Then I constantly walk around the room. Sometimes pausing in the back for a few minutes and observing. Usually the students that want to cheat will try to look around to see where you are.

I tell them on day one if for any reason I have a suspicion that cheating may be going on I will quietly take both tests and after everyone is done we will then talk about it. I also like to tell tham that cheating may get them a better grade but there is no one to cheat off of in the field. They need to know the information to succeed.

Hi Kylie,
Great list! Tactic 4 reminds me of another old strategy, turn your paper over when you are finished.
Patricia

Move the students around. give them different test.

Hi Roderick,
Students will take advantage of every opportunity to cheat. Walking around during test time is a good practice to have in place. The instructor should not be sitting behind the desk during test time. Students will take advantage of you, if you are sitting during test time.

Hi Gerardo,
These are sure ways to reduce cheating. An instructor must be mobile during test time to better determine if cheating is taking place.

Hi Jennifer,
Students eyes do wander during test times. This is a great way to keep students from looking at each others papers.

Having 2 or 3 set of questions
assign different seat for the test
Stand on the back of the classroom

I like to walk around the room when the students are taking a quiz/exam. Also, if the room allows for it, I like to spread the students out. Students would take a seat with a seat empty between them and the next student to help the wandering eyes.

I always have at least 3 versions of any exam I give. I pass them out so that no one has the same exam as the person on either side of them. The students know that if they touch their cell phone, that I have the right to pick up their exam at that point and grade it. I also will walk around the room or sometimes stand outside the room (we have windows that run the length of the wall that faces the hallway) and watch them. This way I can be behind all of them and watch for suspicious behavior.

All students know that cheating affects them one way or another. Stating that isnt enough. During tests the instructor should give out mixed tests and walk the room during the test or stay in the back of the room

On certain test days, I request students not to bring anything but their pencil or pens. Additionally, I walk around the room to give the impression of monitoring. Students tend to take the opportunity where there is one so I try to eliminate the attempt or desire to want to cheat.

I utilize a variety of exams including verbal exams to reduce the likelihood of my students cheating.

Some ways in which I can reduce the opportunity for cheating in my class is to give exams that calls for short answer questions, this way just about every answer is explained differently in the students words and still me the same thing. Also, I give out different versions of exams so that the test questions are not all in the same order. Another way is walking around the classroom. For my students me walking around does not make them nervous, because more so, i've been doing it since the first day. And if they have any questions about the exam of the wording, Im already close to them.

There are several ways to reduce cheating in the classroom: 1. Make sure that the students clear everything off of their desks. 2. Space students far enough apart that it would be difficult to see another person's paper. 3. Monitor the students with your full attention. If the instructor was grading papers or on the computer this gives the students the chance to cheat. 4. Give the students a blank sheet of paper to use as a cover sheet.

I teach math and I make three different versions of the same test. Students sit in rows of three so they each have a different version.

In my opinion, the best way to reduce cheating in tests is to use 3 sets of tests.
