If the class is not managed in a professional manner, and the students do not see the instructor as the leader, then the class becomes unorganized and students focus on learning is lost. If the students are given clear and spacific requirements for class during the first class meeting everyone becomes more settled and the learning experience is enhanced.

Hi Lori,
I agree! The environment has to be one that is professional and one that is conducive for effective learning to take place.

Hi Daniel,
Nicely stated! It is definitely the instructor's responsibilty to create an environment for effective learning to take place.

Class management is the foundation upon which the curriculum is built. It includes the expectations and classroom culture which set the stage for learning. The best lesson plans would fail without good management. Especially in career education, students need an environment that mimics the professional environment of their chosen fields.

Class management is essential to educational planning because without direction the students will not be able to completely fulfill the course objectives. Proper management ensures that the concepts being taught have the best chance of being learned.

Hi Nick,
You have it! Instructors should produce an environment so that effective learning can take place.

Patricia Scales

Having a class that is well managed will inspire a positive learning environment. It can also aid in reducing the amount of student and or classroom issues. Students can tell the difference between and organized and unorganized Instructor.

Hi Melinda,
Class management is a must! The instructor must ensure an environment for effective learning to take place.

Patricia Scales

Because It provides a structured enirovement for the students. By managing your class it shows the students that you are prepared and have requirements so in return they know what to expect from your class.

Hi Earl,
Yes, the instructor has to control the classsroom for effective learning to take place. The classroom should be an environment that is conducive for learning to take place.

Learning is needs to have the right atmosphere, for students to learn. This means the instructor needs to prepare the atmosphere before class, and even darning the class.

Its important to be organized because when having classes of 15 to 20 students it can be easy to get behind on keeping track of grades and attendance. If that happens it can be hard to catch up. And being disorganized can give an instructor the appearance of being unprepared.

Good class management creates a positive learning environment, gives structure to the class, reinforces positive student behavior, reduces classroom problems, keeps the students heading in the right direction, and maintains a professional connection with the students.

With the type of class I have, it is important that the student is going to make mistakes and they will learn from them. That they must spend time learn a new skill.

Hi Fernando,
You understand the importance of being prepared. Preparation is the key to success!

Patricia Scales

I think that being prepared for your class shows professionalism and that you have things well managed. Students will be prepared to learn and few or any problems will arise. You will earn their respect if you are well organized. I hope to achieve this with my class.

Hi Rebecca,
I concur! Teaching is so much like parenting in many ways. At the end, students really do appreciate the sterness from their instructors.

Patricia Scales

I think class management can be compared to parenting in a certain sense. Children do best when there is structure. They do not always like it, but they do respond to it and it serves them better in the end. Being able to manage your classroom gives your class its structure. The students might not always like it, but what they do not see is how it helps them because they know what to expect and gives them the means whereby they can focus and learn instead of being distracted. This goes along with the principle taught in this lesson about being respected over being liked.

it is important for the class material to be interesting and for the instructor to be well prepared on the course outline

There is a tremendous amount of information to convey and it would be difficult to do if there wasn't a schedule of some sort to maintain.

As the instructor, you are responsible for keeping time, not the student. Although it is important to pace instruction with absorbtion, instructors should not get too bogged down on one topic, especially if only one or two students are having difficulties with it. They can be tutored after class.
