First time instructor
When I finally started teaching I was really nervous. I thought that I would have trouble getting through to students and that they would do terrible. However, many students have told me that they love having me as an instructor and that I give them a whole different perspective.
The same thing happened to me. I sat in the supervisors class for a week and I was on my own in front of 20 students. Out of all the jobs I have started, being an instructor is the most stressful job to start.
I've always taught children, so making the move to adult students had me wondering if I could connect as we'll. I've been pleased with how I can connect with my students and offer another perspective.
My first class was in 2000. I was prepared and ready for my students to come through the door. I was terrified I might make a mistake, but then I thought, if I do make a mistake, how would they know it? They don't know what I had planned to say anyway. From that time forward, I was confident.
I had the same experience when I started. It was a lot of nervousness. It seemed a lot harder than it was because my supervisor walked me through a class the first couple of times.
