I usually walk around the room and have found it to be very effective. The students watch and listen and I have their full attention. They definitely enjoy coming to class with an instructor like that instead of one siting at a desk .

I do the same, it is impossible to see how your class is doing while seated the the desk. The only way to stay engaged with your students is to be active and involved. I feel the connection with students is much stronger if you are out with them instead of stuck behind the desk.

Sandra, well stated. If someone is looking for a desk job it is not as a teacher. The instructor needs to be a guide and a coach and be totally immersed within the classroom and part of the classroom versus a fixture in the front of the room. Thanks for sharing.
