I find that it is much harder to teach these "Gen Y" Students, not because of the Technology, but because of their in-ability to think and reason, somethng I have noticed in the last 5 or so years. It seems their use of Tech is a crutch, as I was teaching computer and Networks, I was trying to get them to think things through when their Tech was not working, in other words, "What are you going to do when you cann't Google??"

Patricia,
this is a concern with this generation & also helping them to develop the ability to think critically about what they are reading & the information they have.

Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Since Generation Y is quick to find answers, it becomes difficult to persuade them to "look up" answers to questions in their text prior to asking for a quick answer. I think this prevents them from obtaining a full understanding of the leason trying to be taught.

It's true that Gen Y's are tech savvy, but because everthing is found somewhere on some electronic media device, they have lost the ability to sit still, be quiet, do some inner searching & reflecting, and figure out things for themselves.

being a creative person I am not sure if easy is the word to use but exciting because they embrace all the different media veunes
