Having all generations in the classroom during my first quarter ever teaching college was very interesting. It was the greatest way to have students from all generations compare and contrast, analyze, and critique different lessons and activities completed in the classroom.
I'm a part of Generation Y and to have students that are older than I am by 20-30+ years was humbling. I enjoyed the opportunity of teaching them as well as learning from them.
Ultimately, having all four generations in the classroom provides a dynamic opportunity to mix learning styles and to become more effective as an instructor. We can not pick and choose our students; moreover, we must adjust to suit their learning needs.
I feel that all generations can be combined as long as you have an accomodating instructor that takes into consideration the students have different learning styles.
i don't think that we have control over this. i think i will give us all better skills to help in the future
Amy,
this is a good question. Personally I believe it's a good thing. I think there is great value in the different generations learning to appreciate what the others have experienced & what they can contribute.
