MY LEARNING STYLES
I have a better grasp of my own learning styles as a baby boomer. Students also learn better if instructors use the four learning styles: Written word, auditory, visualization and tactile.

Something along the lines of this might help? I remember taking some test in an education class i took but i don't know what the site was…however i do remember that it was helpful for me to learn that there are different methods of studying that really help.
Alessandra,
and using the variety really helps all students to process the information in a variety of ways & also to stay engaged.

I agree with you. Implementing a variety of methods can increase the students ability t learn and understand the materials.
I am a Gen Y'er but I actually have the learning style of the Gen X. I believe it may be caused by my public school being behind the tech. curve. I just enjoy a structured class where the teacher lectures and I follow allong in the book.
Any suggestions on a test the students can take to help them determine which learning style they learn best? I don't think these students have a good grasp on how they learn best as this will be the second or third time taking this particular class and they have struggled throughout the program.
Thank you!
I can really see this is true in my classroom, where students are aged 17-65. While I can read can read a text and ace the class (born in 1966), the older group likes lectures and the younger students have to DO something with each other or technology to understand the material. I incorporate lecture, video and activity in each class every day.
Emma,
this is a good point to highlight; no matter what the generation, we know learners with all four styles are present so we need to teach to this end.
