so many differences
I'm a gen x person but i can see myself as being some what gen y because technology has been important in my schooling.
Thank you.....but my new "life" will not erase the need to keep current. kerry
william,
this is definitely true. None of the descriptions were meant to be hard & fast rules, but they are blurred, especially with those who are on the edges of each.

Kerry,
I appreciate your honesty & your years of service. Congratulations on your retirement!

I feel the lines are blurred between the generations with overlapping views and styles .
I am of the veterans generation and find after studying the differences in the generations, I may not have the energy to completely understand and work with it all. retiring in Dec 2014 after 48 years of teaching
I believe there are no gray areas; however, generation y and x are very similar given the fact that Y has been raise with the core values of x therefore, when dealing with student whom resemble both traits it is a little easier to facilitate in the classroom. On the other hand with integrating the veterans and boomers is when I can tell a vast difference in how the learning styles differ.
Leila,
this is a good point for us to remember. I too have noticed that I don't have the same struggles in relating & working with technology as some of my more tenured peers.

I am also a gen x person. Gen x'ers are fortunate to have been born at a time when technology was really growing. This makes it easy for us to relate to gen y people and their need for technology.
John,
yes, absolutely & thank you for this reminder. We are all impacted by a wide variety of things & each have our own personalities too.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
I kinda feel like John. Even though I was born into Gen X, I relate to GenY very well. I am wondering why? Could it be that my only sister is 10 years younger than me?
Technically I'm a part of generation Y, I can see how my outlook on the world is influenced by the characteristics of this generation. However, I also identify with aspects of generation X. What should be pointed out is that generational boundaries aren't black and white, there is some grey area.
Abel,
this is a good point as it reflects that we are not necessarily defined by our generation & the ideas given in this course are generalities & not necessarily accurate for every person. Thanks for helping us remember this.
