I am an automotive instructor and teach about the importance of customer satisfaction, csi scores, language, appearance ect. to students who want to fix cars, but these above qualities are very important to todays employers. Trying to make them realize that they may be the best technician ever, but if they can not communicate with a customer it is all for not now is very hard for some students to get
There are some very important "soft skills" that we need to make sure that our students are learning. Without these, it is true that they may not be successful in their field.

Yes there is a definite gap in communication skills and problem solving.
We have a great opportunity to demonstrate great soft skills and the value it brings to achieve more success by using real world examples of how we messed up and had to learn to improve our own soft skills and teach others.
This is a really great point. I also teach at a career school and convincing the students that how they come across is often more important than what they have learned so far is a tough lesson. This is why we go over interview and soft skills in our lecture classes.
