Well, I sued the game :Are you smarter than a fifth grader", it has some software you can download and then put the questions into it,
students were excited, some of the student who never about being competitive in the exams were so competitive during the game, it seems that some student care about winning a game more than getting and A!

Have an activity with one or two backup plans is essential. Students love to learn when they don't know it is happening!! Surprise is the best.

This is a great way since it keeps students active as well as getting their mind going.

The response of the students was always positive and I discovered that I received better grades from the students, especially with the flipping chart exercises.

They obsurb the information faster nad more effectivley, they remember the information

I'm glad you are planning on using this.

I know that the group activities sprinkled throughout the lecture energizes the class I plan this week to institute the ball toss for review in my three classes. Thank-you

Its my opinion that the percentage of hands on learners is higher than the average population.

I am always surprized how much the adult learners enjoy the activites. Of course, we have many kinesthetic learners in nursing, so they are a useful teaching tool.

Seeing the information on the wall each class helps to reinforce it.

I have used different activities for different classes such as a wall chart of all functions that a health information technician learns (e.g. coding, filing, abstracting, etc.) and the students see this on a daily basis when they come to the class laboratory.

As you can see, having something in the hands of your learners keeps them engaged.

I think movement is a great idea and can be used when demonstrating clinical procedures when the students are sitting in their chairs holding actually syringes or pretending their pens are syringes. The ball toss seems like a simple way to keep students on their toes to review. What are some of the other simple ways to promote class participation?

Learner involvement is so crucial to learner success, Robert. You know that and value that. Great job!

This will be the first time I am using these activities. Based on past experiences with other activities, students love the variation in class structure. I frequently look for new power point games to use in my classes. My students LOVE Jeopardy style competition. I have them compete for bonus points on an upcoming exam. The winning team get 3 points. The team in second place gets 2 points. Everyone is a winner and has fun while learning.

Whenever I work an activity into a course, the feedback from students is almost always positive. They want a chance to use their newly obtained knowledge in different ways, not just to score well on tests and quizzes.

Movement is important to incorporate in the learning process.

Students are receptive to activities that allow them to move around for a while.Laboratory exercises are their favorites

Your explanation here explains in a nutshell why certain games really are effective teaching methods.

To get the shy students involved, put them in teams with the talkative students, so they can guess answers with peers, but not have to say them in front of all until they are comfortable.
