Dana, I am glad you will try these teaching ideas.

I have used a jeopardy review in the past and split the class into two teams. It is a great review and it requires every student to be involved. I love the great ideas from this module and can't wait to use them!!

Having your learners take ownership of the content is important to building long term memory. I'm so glad to hear this example!

Enthusiastic - I also noticed that they retain more with these activities.
Some students actually come up with games themselves - like games they play with their children. They tailor it to medical terminology. (examples: Guess Who, Medical Terminopoly)
So impresses me with what they come up with!

I agree it is possible to overuse lecture.

Most of the time students seem to enjoy a break away from traditional lecturing. Activities help reinforce your lecture but in a fun way.

I have had a very positive learning for the day's class, with the students retaining the lessons of the day with more understanding than just lecturing or having them do hands on exercises.

Reengaging students at intervals is essential to learning, I agree.

My students love these activities. They get so bored real quickly. Doing fun things wakes them up and gets them interested again.

Creating opportunities for students to be successful is essential to career success in the job world.

The students enjoy the change od pace. People are generally competitive and they like to win, everyone does. It gives them a chance to succeed in public and engage in learning with their peers.

I really like to use activities for Mid-terms and Final Exams. Students love it. It opens up their mind to some things that was discussed from the first week, their past Exams etc. I like to see the students engaging; it shows that their not stressing over the matieral and their having fun, while learning.

Your students obviously see Jeopardy as a positive strategy.

Hands on activities are not only reinforcement of the lesson to the student, but also an evaluation method for the teacher.

I find that playing games keeps the students engage and creates teamwork. I have used the baseball game before and find it fun and a great learning tool.
We also play the game Jepordy. I let the class know the day before we play and find that I have no absent students that day

Having the students engage in an activity "drives the lesson home". I have found that test results are better when we do a hands-on activity, either in the classroom or out in the community.

My students love games as a review. I usually use hangman or jeopardy, but I'm going to try "Are You Smarter Than an MA?

Ball toss keeps them alert which keeps them awake

When teaching med term there are tons of activities that you can do in order to help with retention of the information. The response from students is different for every class as there are different types of students tin each class.

Depending on the activity that has been done and the time it was done during the class plays a big part in the response you get. If you are doing something the requires an activity, do the activity when you are finished discussing that section and you will get a better response for that particular activity.

they are very interested and engage more in learning
