The majority of the students really love them but you always have a few that are hard to please. I like to make it worth points so that even if they don't really want to play they do. I find usually if I can just get them engaged they tend to enjoy themselves.

I use the "draw a surgery" and I think it has increased my students knowlegde of the different surgical cases because they think of the crazy pictures that fellow students have drawn.

Students love different types of activities.I got many new ideas during this courss. With games they learn while playing.

Karen, don't use football if you don't know how it is played. Is there a sport you enjoy you could adapt this idea to?

I have never used anything more than "hangman". These games sound like much more fun. Except football - I would be clueless about how to play!

Having more than one activity is always a plus. It help stimulate learning in a creative way.

I agree, the flip chart (which I have used) has worked the best!!!!

Vickey, I am glad to hear your students respond well to games. They are a great learning strategy.

I have used the game baseball before and I cant wait to use your other ideas in class. My students love to play games, and I find that they retain the information much quicker when we do play them.

Your students' response is the evaluation you want to use as to what ideas to use in the future, and which to skip next time.

I have had some classes that were not receptive to playing games. However, my current class has two learners that have shown significant test score improvement after playing games as homework and as classroom activities. These two learners stated, "I'm just no good at taking tests." Because they are part of the MA program I deduced that a more tactical approach was needed. And it worked!

The learners are more excited about learning, they get more into it, because it is more interesting to them and they gain more from it if you ask me

I have used the flip chart and the ball toss in many other classes that I have taught and it has been a very successful way for students to learn as well as being an icebreaker.

I have done like jeopardy and it work very well

Bonnie, I'm glad you have the ideas printed and ready for use when you find a need for one. Good luck in all you do!

Students always enjoy activities. I have used some in the past, but this gives me a lot of new and interesting ideas. I liked all of the activities presented here, although you would have to choose what is appropriate to the topic and the particular group of students you are working with. I appreciated that these slides were printable, and have printed them off for future reference.

I hadn't quite thought of it as the "Thrill factor" but you are right, that is what it is.

I find that the Question & Answer Relay race will be very effective because it has the "Thrill Factor" to it. It would therefore keep the classroom environment energetic and lively!

Students and teachers both see positive results!

The response to learners has been positive when using activities in the past because the students like new and exciting ways to grab their attention and getting them out of their chairs is fun too.
