I would say that quality is more important than quantity. The amount of participation is not as critical as making a significant, accurate post.

I would have to say that I would assess the students content, and the frequency or amount of participation in the blog as a rule. I would also consider the observance of the rules of engagement or netiquette.

To assess a student's use of blogging I would analyze the frequency of blogs and responses. I would also evaluate the content provided in each student post.

I'd use the following:

1. how often the student posts
2. how relevant the post was to the topic
3. how well the post gets others involved in the discussion
4. the students tone and respect for other participants.
