Faith ,
Can you elaborate about how to consider alternative ways of using your rubric? This caught my attention and I'd like to see what else you have to share. Thanks!
Searching online sounds like a good way to keep up to date, fine tune your own rubric, and consider alternative ways of using your rubric.
LaShanta ,
I too create my own, but look at other examples to see if I can improve upon my criteria or to see if I'm forgetting another category. Thanks!
I tipically create my own but I do go to the internet for examples.

Online has a lot of helpful tips that I can use when creating my rubric.

Tom,
I am thrilled that you can modify them to meet your needs. I hope you find these resources helpful. Try them out and let us know how they work for you. Thanks!
At my college, we have rubric examples in the faculty resource center. We can modify them to meet the needs of our own courses. Module 3 listed two online resources http://rubistar.4teachers.org/ which is a free tool to help teachers create quality rubrics. Another one is called http://www.rcampus.com/index.cfm/ it is a comprehensive Education Management System and a collaborative learning environment. I have not used these suggested tools. I will review them after this course. Thanks, Tom
Carla,
I think it is difficult to find a rubric that exactly meets your needs as the criteria typically needs to be tweaked to match our particular assignment/project. Thanks!
Try the Google suggestion-there is a wealth of information out there. Does anyone find a generated rubric of which you nor any students have had a part in less effective?
Albert,
It's great to see you all learning from each other and sharing ideas, resources and more.
Thanks again.
Roger, thanks for the link to that site, it is a gem. I hope he keeps it running for many years - it seems it is easier to build a site than to maintain a site over the long term.
Phyllis,
I use Rubistar many times just to look at similar rubrics to see if I can make my criteria more clear or to see if I may have forgotten a pertinent category. It helps to see others. Thanks!
The internet is a great tool in developing rubrics, there is a program called rubistar for developing them. Also, there are a lot of places that have free information for a rubric for the course
Sharon,
We learn a lot from each other in these forums and searching the Internet for various resources. Nice job.
Traci,
Great. Glad you are trying new things. We can learn a lot by researching and seeing what others do through their resources. Thanks!
Prior to taking this course I always searched the internet for an idea of rubrics that would suit my discipline and type of assignment. I rarely use any one rubric but often find characteristics that I like in several of the rubrics I review and then I add elements that I feel are important to clearly demonstrate a student's competency with the material. I am very interested in checking out Rcampus Rubric Gallery to see what types of rubric template that site has to offer.
I have never used any online resources to develop my rubrics. After taking this course I am going to take a look at the resources out there. I believe they will help me develop better rubrics for my students.
Dale,
There is a ton of information out there. Rubistar is a great place to look as well.
Thanks!
Dale,
Just because you find something online (such as a rubric) does not mean you have to use it verbatim. You can get an idea of categories, criteria, etc., but tweak it to meet your needs and connect them to the objectives. You're not doing "research" per se, but getting ideas for rubrics you will create yourself. Hope this helps.
Dr Crews,
I have never given much thought to going to the internet to search for rubrics, but upon doing a goggle search I found more then I could ever hope to use. I must admit, I am a little unsure about using google when it comes to doing academic work/research. I always tell my students not to use goggle when doing research. Rather, they should be using the library becasue it is more focused on academics. What do you think?
Thanks Roger, this is good information. I too have never looked to the web for rubrics. It is interesting that so many would be out there.
