The nature of all of us is to excel. We often work beyond what is expected. This is quite honestly made us achieve at higher levels. The achieving above what is expected is rewarding. We have been exposed to this since we were a child. If this is not rewarding and is stressful the outcome must not be what you are looking for.

I know that this is a much older thread, but I felt the inclination to comment on it anyways. I feel as though Lissa and I are in very similar life situations in that we are both overachievers whose need to excell becomes to much at time, causing ppanic attacks. While I am not having a child or planning a wedding, I too have life stressors that when unattended to, have developed into panic attacks. I beleive that I need to takr a note from Lissa and realize that it is OK to do the minimum sometimes.
I agree that how we deal with stress is our savior. I have stress at work, type 2 diabeties, high blood pressure and am over weight but I have found a way to help with all of these in just one simple thing, I have started to ride a bicycle. It started off when the grandkids were at the house one weekend and brought their bikes with them. I knew that I could not let them ride off on their own (they are to young) so I when and bought a bike for me to ride with them. I had so much fun that I now ride every chance I get and have gone from only a mile or two up to seven to ten miles every time I ride. The stress level seems to have gone down along with the blood pressure and the weight.

It is our ability to face stress with the proper amount of organization and balance in our lives. Understanding the situation and remaining calm keeps everything in perspective. You are right about exercise. I does help. It is important we lead a balanced life with mental challenges, exercise, recreation, good health practices and spiritual refuvenation.
Stress is everywhere in our life, it is what we do with it that either makes us feel worse or in a better balanced state.
Exercise: even if you go for a walk for 15-25 minutes four days a week it will help your body to get rid of adrenaline and produce endorphins (a natural tranquilizer). Not to mention you will not only feel better, you will also look the part.

We all have our inner secrets to what works for us. The key is to not allow stress to intercede into the stress relief activity. Focus is how we proceed with healthy activity for our emotional well being.
I agree everyone is different and you have to find what will help you with stress, i.e. hobbies, exercise,walking.
You are definitley correct. We can adjust our stress by the way we think. A gentleman by the name of Lou Tice wrote an entire book on "Positive Self Talk".
People sometimes do not know they add to their own stress level by the thoughts that come into their minds. once that is revealed to them, along with the positive thoughts you need to replace the negetive, it is like a light is turned on. This was one of my experiences. You are what you say an think either positive or negetive. "stay positive, it heals the soul"!
If you are having a hard time staying positive it is probably time to reassess what you are doing or why you are doing this to yourself. If you can't seem to change your attitude towards the challenges and relationships involved it is time for a change. Mental health is very important regarding stress. The balance in your life is good physical exercise, mental health and spiritual practice. If you can keep these in balance your stress will decrease.
It is very difficult to stay positive. I clearly need to work on the persistence part.
To analyze the situation is the first step. In analyzing the situation takes some very talented listening. We need to see between the lines on what we are hearing. So much of stress can be caused by the environment, unclear expectations, lack of collaboration, trust and integrity of the leader. Your term "WE" is essential to create a team environment
We need to identify and analyzed the situation that we going to face. And if is possible in a very persuasive way approach and address the message and technics to the people that we want to help. Acting with a full of surprise, so that way first able we make sure that we get there attention. And then we start talking with the different ways to see, whatever reason that is causing the stress. Then we continuing giving the recommendation and examples about the benefits to implement the diverse strategies that they can used to find a way to manage and release stress. For example, thinking positive to eliminate the negative, re-organized our expectation against the reality and encourage our self to stay focus and motivated us to release the stress. So that way we learn how to manage and created a balance between the good stress and the toxic stress that contaminated our biological system, mental health and behavior.
You are on target with your perception of stress. The important part of stress release by your employees is that they are aware of the balance we need in our lives to approach stress in a healthy manner. We need to exercise, have our own mental fun challenges, health and spiritual well being.
Stress is something that we always going to feel. There is good stress and bad stress and we need to learn how to manage and balance in a way that we can be productive as a professional and in our personal life, with the implementation of
different technics. So when we have to perform supervisor position, we have to be able to delegate and manage employees effectively in order to make them more productive and achieve the organization goals. Keeping on mind that people behave different under stress. And make that possible in a group of employees to work as a team is a challenge.
