It's hard for me to relax

Miriam,
Relaxing is a state of mind. When you can develop your mind to control you thoughts it can take you to places you have not been. Each of us have an ability to relax in their own way. This calls for complete mediattion techniques where you are alone with yourself.

Why is so hard for you to relax
Regina,
You spoke the magic word for your help. Lord! You have a lot for your to handle and probably wonder why you have been given this in your life. I have worked with many people in your situation over the years. I worked with disabled youth for 20 years. The longer I worked with these children and youth I began to understand the blessing I experienced with having them in my life. These children had more to teach me than I had to teach them. My spiritual being and faith only grew stronger with being blessed with these children. I do remember the pressures and stress but also remember the appreciation from the children. Our capability to love and care for others is a medicine that works for everyone. A lot of people around us don't care about what we know until they know that you care. My suggestion for you is to find time for yourself with meditation and relaxation. Give yourself a treat by only thinking about your self-talk in a positive light. Keep your thought pure from negativity and understand your blessings. These meditation methods can get you on the road to success and a future of enlightenment with your family, friends and new challenges. Good Luck and your paragraph moved me to appreciate my life you can be an inspiration. I look forward to a new you. You are welcome to email me again.

I have a disabled child, I'm a single parent (but thankfully have my mom that helps me,yet she works full time)I work 2 part time jobs at 4 different locations----3 are over an hour away....and I am a migraineur....."relax" just isn't a word in my vocabulary!!! Lord!!
Sherry,
You are a great example of how we abused ourselves when we didn't need too. You now have found the best practices. I can't tell you how many people have been so thankful for this course. It can change your life. I wish you the best with your new found therapy for yourself.

I agree that is very important to make time for yourself. I didn't set aside much time for exercise, meditation or fun activities that I enjoyed, and now I am paying the price by taking time to deal with health issues. It would have been far more beneficial for me to have taken a little time out here and there, than to have to take bigger chunks of time out now that are far less convenient for me and my employer. I hope someone reading this takes my words to heart.
Luisa,
It is important you carve out some time for yourself. Even if it is 15 or 30 minutes somewhere. Not giving yourself this time will maybe cause some longtime health issues later in life.

It is my greatest wish one day to have the time to do some kind of exercise, cook healthy every day and make time to meditate. It is very difficult for me with three kids, my job is 40 minutes from my house. I get up early every day and I get home after 8 pm.
Alise,
Your recognition of the issue is the first step in solving your challenge. Many times we have so much facing us at one time we struggle where to begin. As you look at the process what items build upon each other and what needs to come first. Multi-tasking is something we all do and needs attention. When we do this we can't cut corners but must allow time for each task for an excellent outcome.

I, too, find it hard to relax. I am normally a person of high energy. As I get older (perhaps wiser), I'm not as active, but I do tend to multi-task even at relaxation. I.E. watch TV while playing a card game on the computer while having a conversation. It does oddly relax me or at least not stress me out, but I understand it also may not be the best practice ever. I heard of a philosophy to focus on whatever one's doing at the time..."chop wood, carry water". So, doing 2 things at once can lead to non-enjoyment of either or both. My resolution is to get a better sense of 'chop wood, carry water' in my daily life.
Gale,
Stress can be addressed with exercise which is a good practice. The remaining time needs to share in a balanced life. Exercise, health life style, mental activity for fun, recreation and spiritual rejuvenation are all part of the balance.
Dr. Gary Carlson
Exercise in fact I've learned does help me to relax. I keep a very busy schedule and have eliminated exercise from my daily routine and I have gained weight and tire very easily. I've made a decision to put exercise back into my daily routine for the mornings. In the past I would exercise in the mornings and feel more energized throughout the day and sleep better at night. This will most certainly eliminate some of the stress I feel with such a busy schedule.
Sonia ,
Exercise is a healthy practice but a balance of techniques are the best possible attempt to reduce stress. Each of us must have a balance of exercise with pleasure mental activity (reading, movies, art, games etc.), lead a healthy life with diet, recreation and spiritual rejuvenation.
