Priscilla,
Emotions are the key to keep in control When you raise your emotion to the level of the upset person it only can get worse. Keep your emotions at a level that requires the other communicator to come down to your unemotional level.

Humor is always a good thing for employees as long it isn't at the mercy of an individual. Humor in poor taste hurts moral.

totally agree - working/connecting with others on projects is rewarding, fun and can help with self-esteem and sense of belonging.

a short moment outside in nature is so healing to the spirit, and a good chance to do the breathing exercises.

yes, keeping perspective and not getting negative and upset about small issues.

Ricky,

I don't often reveal my stress at home but I know as you do when I need a shoulder to release my stress she is always there. This can also be a trusting friend.

For workplace stress, reducing the number of conflicts and our role in negative relationships with co-workers, supervisors, etc. I find is critical. Keep the fight or flight mechanism quite - save that for real emergencies.

sometimes putting on good inspiring music and dancing is good - gets the body going and lifts the mood, endorphins.

Wow 87%...I have found listening is not only a gift to the person being listened to, but also is very relaxing for me. I breath and focus on being present, quiet my mind, it is great.

Balance can be such a challenge sometimes, hard to fit it all in. Sometimes it feels easier to just plop down in front of the television. And yet when I instead go outside for a walk, or sit in the backyard or call a friend to chat I feel so good afterward. Seems like a daily challenge to make the best choices.

Yes, when a work group laughs together it is so bonding. And having positive humor is important, and avoiding the humor of separation and gossip which really adds stress to a group and workplace I find, and drains energy.

My most important step in the moment for self-care is to do a few deep breaths with a calming attitude. Centering myself in the moment is like making a timeout and space for myself, and gives me a sense of control over my situation. Calms the nervous system reaction.

The times I feel a small amount of stress coming on I can just let it go, it does not bother me. In other cases, I feel alot of stress, and then I realize that I am so lucky to have someone at home that will listen to me when I vent. I do not try to add to her stress, but she is always willing to listen and that helps soo much.

Lou,

Sometimes progress is hard see until the completion of the product. The outstanding part of achieving is the final moment when you have met your goals.

I've often exercised after work to relieve stress. Teaching can be really stressful by nature, so I need to have an outlet for the stress that i can go to as soon as I'm done at work. Once home, I change out of my work clothes, and ideally, I go for a bike ride. When I get home from exercise, I feel WAY better!
