I think that in today's world, depending on your institutions vision, all methods of communication should be utilizied to identify and reach your market. However, this is truly not a real admissions issue, this is a marketing issue. Admissions should focus more on how to convert the right type of candidate in an ethical manner.
Jennifer,
Interesting! Marketing is very complex and decisions should be made relative to the demographics of the target market of your student base.
Patty Aronoff
My institution does not want admissions reps to utilize the internet, I think that this would be a helpful too.
Shanley,

When using Facebook as a marketing tool, what research has been conducted to show how effective Facebook advertisements are for enrollment? I know an institution can create a page and update it themselves, but as far as posting ads on the home page of Facebook, has anyone successfully received a lot of interest via this method?
JOSE,
We should often re-examine our referral bases in order to determine their effectiveness in capturing your target market.

Social marketing is a great tool. If the Internet is working for you now, the social marketing will add another dimension.
Patty Aronoff
referral base and thinking out side the box plus talking to prospect out side the cmapus
By far our best tool to reach perspective students is and has been the internet. Our institution is small but we have had students come from many different states and countries! We are currently working on a social networl site. Do you think that will help as well?
Glenis,
Social media and associated marketing varies with the audience. Many are comfortable with certain arenas on the internet such as Facebook vs. Twitter. I would be very curious as to the demographics of avid Linkedin users.
Patty Aronoff
Since this form of advertsing will be used with young students and to promote a particular class, I hope it's effective. It would be interesting to know how effective this was for this purpose. In general, Facebook is a means of social networking and although it has envolved into a popular and effective marketing strategy for many businesses, it may become a double edge sword if used as a general form of advertsing. The popularity of Facebook and its content may take away from the percieved quality and established reputation of the institution. I would be more inclined to use Linkedin, a network geared more towards the working professional who may be intersted in furthering their education.
Dana,
Interesting! Marketing strategies should always be under scrutiny to make sure your dollars are being well spent and you are getting the enrollment rates you are looking for.

Thomas,
It depends upon your target market and your school's program offerings. Do the research and refine your strategies to find the best approach.
Patty Aronoff
Eric,
Technology and social networks are key elements of marketing today. We use the Internet as our gateway to information seeking. Most leads today come from that arena.

Bianca,
Marketing strategies are key to the success of your leads. If you are not catching your target market, your school is missing out and spending money in the wrong area.
