Digital Notebooks

We are considering using a central location to file all of our Resource and State regulation Notebooks etc. Has anyone had any positive feedback on the digital files over the hardcopy versions.
Thanks,

Wayne,

Great points! There are many advantages to having a hard copy at the resource notebook. Many people use both formats electronic and hardcopy

Patty Aronoff

My school is definitely more comfortable with the hard copy notebook approach. It is easy to use and gives a convenient focal point for discussions with clients - plus, it does not need to be charged up! Our update schedule is not rapid, so it is easy to keep the resource notebook up to date. We also keep all of our soft copies in a single networked folder where they are easy to access.

Deidre,
Technology does provide us with new avenues for maintaining information. Saving paper and providing access are among the benefits.

My college keeps all program details and relevant information on an internal website. This way, we all have access to identical, continuously updated information. Thus preventing anyone from providing outdated information to potential students. Also, since this does not use any paper, its a much more environmentally friendly option.

Heather,
We are coming into the digital age. However, it still relates back to what is a personal preference

Patty Aronoff

It seems like this would be a preference of the individual. Personally, I like how easy it is to search digital documents quickly. But for really studying material in detail, nothing beats a hardcopy version to stare at or make note in a margin. Having the digital copies in a well known location and up-to-date would be a great idea, in addition to hardcopies.

Andrew,
Very true! The physical notebook gives a picture of confidence and accountability to the person sitting across the desk from you.

wan,

It's a great way to maintain your files. Make sure to have a naming convention and archive any old files to avoid confusion.

I feel that the physical notebook has more of an impact on the student when you are actively helping them. Not to mention it has no chances of being accidentally deleted.
