vanessa,
Yes, we are in the age of different modalities for instruction. Many schools offer opportunities to take blended instruction whereas students take part of their courses online and the remaining part in the classroom.

Ruth,
This is a great process! You immediately make the students feel at home.

I have placed in my resource book our catalog, enrollment agreement, marketing materials, and other forms and notes that I have found to have pertinent info to our institution and programs. I now have a better understanding of why some procedures are in place and how they help protect not only the students/faculty and our whole institution but the general public as well.

Lourdes

It is very important principals to understand "Students First". My definition is understanding the values, needs and gold's of a student will let me assisting them in a effectively successive way.

Many words, terms and definitions are clearly defined by Florida Rules and Status, but there are some specific definitions at a university.
I divide in four categories of definitions like:
1. Around Campus terms, academic advisor, bursar, on-campus housing, off-campus housing.. etc..
2. Applications Terms ,Admission Interview, admitted student, prospective student...etc...
3. Financial Aid Terms, Award letter, Cost of attendance (COA), student loan...etc...
4. Immigration terms definitions like Form 1-20, Form 1-94,VA Form 22-1990,G845 Form (VONAPP),...etc..
In my institution admission process are involve in all of this four categories.

Some of the terms commonly used are "direct contact instruction" which means the amount of time that students and instructors are physically in the same location. Another common term is "scholarship" which is a grant to aid an enrolled student pay for their education.

We have an open statement for all the student coming into our admission office, starting with a welcome and explaining to them exactitly what we will do during our meeting, after that, we take them on a tour of our campus which include career service, financial aid, Educational Director and classrooms. After the tour we let the prospect student talk and ask all the questions they may have in order for us to help them better and provide them with the rigth information they are looking for.
We usually let them know that we have financial aid available if they qualify.

Assembling a resourse book its the key to sucess as an admission representative, that the way you can look for an answer all the time.

Dana,
Florida is a consumer protection state. The rules and statutes are built to protect the consumer.

Michelle ,
All advertising must meet the requirements of rule. It cannot be misleading and meeting fair consumer practices.

Patty Aronoff

Danielle,
Many schools use an FA overview as part of the initial appointment. This gives the prospective student an opportunity to see what financial aid is all about.

I have placed all materials that were stated to have in your notebook in mine. I have learned that you must be licensed to represent an institution and I did not know that before. That is good to know that Florida is looking out for their consumers.

There are several terms commonly used during the admissions process at my institution. Some of these commonly used terms and definitions are as followed. The term conducted indicates that a prospective student toured the campus and received the recruitment presentation. The term accepted means that a prospective student has satisfied all the admissions criteria. The term FA conducted means that a prospective student has attended an appointment with the finance department and has provided sufficient documentation to estimate the source and amount of financial aid that the student may qualify for. The term open-ended questions are questions that provided the information or facts about the prospective student's interests, needs, and goals. Lastly, closed-ended questions are questions that usually have a one to two work answer.

Phillip,

The enrollment agreement is a contract and every detail should be reviewed with the student no matter how long it takes.

Patty Aronoff

We definitely review carefully the Enrollment Agreement with the customer.

The definition is as follows:

A legally binding contract that is signed by applicants to licensed institutions as well as by authorized personnel at the institution. This contract forms the agreement to terms of enrollment and provides disclosures which inform consumers of important policies of the institution, which their signature indicates acknowledgement of.

Bishada,

Excellent! Product knowledge is a huge part of the admissions success story. Keep on learning!

Patty Aronoff

We have many different programs at our school and each criteria is different so in my notebook what I have done is outlined the criteria for the different programs
