Spanish speaking prospects
I work as an Admissions Representative and I'm the primary person at the handling majority of the prospects that come in. A little more than half of our students and prospects only speak Spanish and I do not. I feel as if there may be a slight disadvantage towards the Spanish speaking students because its hard to communicate all the information needed through a translator. What is some advice that you would give to better handle this issue?
Reinalda,
That is an excellent attribute to have. Being bilingual for prospective students brings comfort for those who have another language in which they may communicate.

Knowing that Florida has over one million residents who only speak Spanish, I have to consider the language barrier that may exist between myself and potential candidates. Gratefully my organization is aware of this potential weakness. Plans are being discussed to explore potential opportunities that will change this weakness into a strength. We have heard wonderful things about Rosetta Stone and we also offer online Spanish courses that I may take advantage of. Either way, I wish you the best on your quest. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
I feel fortunate that I am Bilingual fully bilingual in Spanish. However, and for the most part, I also understand the necessity to communicate with prospective students in English.
