MARIA,
The Commission meets every two months. The agenda is posted on the CIE website. It is always a learning cperience at the meetings.

I attended the Board meeting held last month and it was quite interesting. Every time the Board meets there is a change. My understanding is that they meet several times a year. Their website has a Board meeting catalog with the meeting dates. After each Board meeting, they post the entire meeting agenda. This is another place where the changes are also listed.
Harry,
You will find some similarities and differences between both states. Your notebook exercise will assist you in this endeavor.

One way is by taking this course, I am recently transfered from Texas to Florida and this is very informative and helpful.
George,
Legislative session in Tallahassee is am important time for our sector. If you are unable to attend, the Florida Administrative Weekly website will keep you informed and FAPSC gives regular updates as your state school association.

The ways that I am learning the various Florida Statutes is from my Program Director and also by going to the State Capital ( Tallahassee) during Legislature Session. Also by consulting different websites from time to time for regulation changes because changes usually occur yearly.
Margaret,
Make sure that you check out the websites for CIE and FAPSC. They will provide you valuable guidance in remaining currnt.

I have a separate notebook for the rules and statutes regarding admissions and I am reading and studying them continuously. I also refer to them when necessary. Do you have any suggestions which will help me?
Clyde,
Electronic copies have their own benefit of being able to search by keyword.
Patty Aronoff
I've printed them out and also made an electronic copy for quick access.
doreen,
Very good advice. I believe as we learn, we should share the knowledge. Teaching someone else is the best way to learn.
Patty Aronoff
The more questions you ask the more you learn.
The more you read the more you absord.
The more you share the information the more informed your staff is.
Also, web-site updates once a month, print them out and put them into a holder on the wall, for all to read. I find if I just put them into a notebook they are out of sight.
Diane,
Compliance training is key. We can never stop learning this important aspect of our school's existence.
In addition to reading the rules and regulations, my organization has compliance training to reinforce our understanding of them.
That is a really good idea. I never thought of that.

Great Point! Since regulations, policies and procedures change or get updated all the time we need to also have the lattes updates readily available. It's not good just having a binder with these regulations or changes if they are not being updated and are informed of these changes.
That's what I'm doing. Storing them on my computer and updating them as the rules change. That way I always have the most current info in front of me. It's a green alternative too.
Asonta,
Even daily meetings bring staff together in an effort to stay on the same page.
