What do you know about your institution?
My overall knowledge about the institution I am currently working on is so far on point. However, coming from a different institution, procedures, verbiage, and actions/behavior is where I see myself learning new things each day! Having said that, I am thankful that the team has been welcoming and forthcoming as to “do’s and don’tsâ€, and I know I can count with my director.
Also, the offering in programs are different than my previous institution, so you can see myself taking home my binder with the programs offered at my campus to learn the classes offered and key terminology not known for me in the past. Why I take “work†home? Well, I want to make sure I have the ease of conversation and knowledge. You want to make sure that when you meet with a potential student, you can be clear, honest when presenting the program. Also, you might find a potential student that has done his/hers research of the program (if they are really passionate about it), and if you do not understand the program offering, curriculum and other information pertaining to that program. You might face the situation that a student has more knowledge of this, and he/she may feel our school is not apt for their inquisitive self.
I have a saying, and that is to make sure each day when I leave my work I can circle back around and have a “learn of the dayâ€.
Athena,
Students are very savvy today. There are many information links that they can access to confirm the information they receive.
