Resource Notebook is a must-have!

I am in the process of putting together my resource notebook and I can't believe how much information I've retained just by assembling the notebook!

Robert,

Thank you for your feedback! The resource notebook will serve you well in the years to come. Make sure to keep it up-to-date.

The resource notebook is a great tool! It shows the complexity that goes into creating a school and helps me to appreciate all the hard work done! I know much more about my institution now and how to keep it running! Thanks!

Jose,
We need to quickly serve the students when they ask those questions. Having the information at our fingertips shows our attention to detail.

Giselle,

Both formats have their own pros and cons. Having them in electronic and print gives you the best of both worlds.

Patty Aronoff

I concur. It is paramount for quick access to information the prospective student might request.

I like both ideas of printing it out or saving onto a computer file. Not sure which route to take yet. I am all into organization so having this as a tool will come in handy.

Jennifer,

Excellent! The resource notebook will be your best friend in the office. As you continue to build your notebook, you are learning as well.

Organization is key! When we are organized, we can find what we need when we need it.

OMG!! There is so much to research and know about and I have also noticed things that I never knew we had! This notebook is such a great tool. I am even making a copy for my office so they know everything our institution has to over.

Not only am I keeping track of my institution but also all the information that the modules have taught us as well.

It definitely helps to keep track that way if there is something I forget from this course I can easily track it.

Staples has been my go to for supplies! Dividers and tabs are a must to easily navigate all this information.

I seem to have an abundance of information, as well. Staying organized with dividers and a highlighter is saving me!

Katie,

Excellent! It is a wonderful resource and the efforts that you put into its creation will pay it forward.

Sara,

Check out the forum! Many people have posted the different ways that they have built their resource notebook.

Katie,
I agree with you. I have found it to be very helpful to my learning to print out, read and place the online information into my Resource Notebook. I like the feeling of having everything in one place and arranged in a way I can find it quickly when I need a specific reference.

Sara,
To answer your question, I would suggest dividers with labeled tabs as the easiest and best solution. This has already been advised by Patty A. and I can see the benefit: organized, easy to find.

It also can serve as a good reference for tracking where to look for updates. I plan to write the source of the information on the page of the divider itself. Periodically, I can check that source for updates. If there is one (or I spill coffee on my pages... ;-), I can simply print the new information and replace it where "it belongs" in my notebook.

To make it even easier, I will type up a word processor document and keep it on my computer in a folder where I keep the latest software versions of the hardcopies in my notebook. This summary document will have the urls of the documents recorded in a clickable form so I can just click down the page looking for updates. Hopefully, each of the online documents will have a release date to make it easy to know if it is newly updated by comparing it with the release date on my summary document.

Any advice on keeping the information organized?
