I too agree. Along with sitting down and explaining everything about FA. This educates the students on the importance of staying in school and finishing so they are able to pay back their loans. Along with meeting SAP to continue to recieve their aid.
my school completes all paperwork and I think there is are students that this bridges the gap allowing them to attend school when they otherwise wouldn't attend.
I agree Students lack the information to accomplish this without trained guidance.
Although I think they should be as helpful as possible, I'm not sure I agree that a school should prepare ALL financial aid paperwork for a student. What's most important is that an FA Officer provide a high level of customer service, help where they can and do their best to ensure that each student has a true understanding of their funding options. Doing too much FOR them can cause more harm than good...
Now if you simply mean we as a college should provide them the paperwork necessary, I absolutely agree and I think most places do.
I believe completing the paperwork should be a partnership between both parties. After a student has gathered all of the information, a FA should sit down with them and complete the documents together.
Couldn't agree more. Students have enough to worry about with the change from HS to Colleges. Having a dedicated admissions department to assist with financial aide will encourage students to go to a place of higher learning.
I agree completely. Many students go through high school and don't have much knowledge about the ins and outs of finances, even on a personal level. Included in the financial aid discussion with any student should be a complete list of answers to any questions the student should be asking but doesn't know to ask.
Not only is it a good idea, it is the way to go period! I mean after all any institution survives by student enrollment and that students ability to successfully obtain the funds and have the stability to make payments on their tuition. With that in mind by assisting the student with understanding and obtaining financial aide the university is also assisting itself.
So that said this is not only a positive practice that helps benefit prospective students, but it is also just plain good business as well.
It is a wonderful idea to assist students with the Financial Aid process! Many current and prospective students have let the FA process hinder their progress.
I agre. it makes the process a lot easier not only for us, but the students. Thsi way it shows that were organized and it also helps anwser any questions that they may have about FA
I agree. The financial aid process is confusing enough with all the information that is needed anyone can get confused. It is nice when you have a qualified FAO onsite to help with the process-it gives the prospect the added support needed.
Indeed! My wife struggled with the FASFA online. It would have been much easier for a qualified FAA to be there to help her. I think it's a great service for our prospective students.
I agree! I believe that FA department is fully trained to give the correct information to a prospect that is looking to utilize FA.
I agree. Many students are confused by the financial aid documents; a well educated student will make better decisions about their financial future.
