Dotting Your "i's" and crossing your "t's"

Its always a great idea to have a complete understanding of all paperwork. Doing so directly pertains to successfully helping students make an informed decision about changing their lives by furthering their education.

I definitely agree. In my last job I noticed people who would breeze through the Enrollment Agreement without explaining pertinent information such as the refund policy. In my opinion that only hurts you as the representative and the student.

In my experience it is very important to explain details with the student. I think areas where the student is unclear can often result in a dropped student.

I agree it can seem like a hassle, but it's very beneficial in the end.
I like keeping the papers organized. It allows me and anyone else who needs the file, to stay update.

I agree that it is important for both the Admissions Representative and the candidate understand the details. But we as the Admissions Representatives can not give away what we do not have. It starts with us.

I completely agree with you. While the paperwork can be confusing at first, it's very important to understand all of it. After all, if we don't understand the paperwork, how are students supposed to?

I agree....I am very detail oriented yet there are times I forget to fill in some information or write in the wrong information. I think this happens when I am a little stressed or in a hurry. Using a checklist is a great idea. Using one with help eliminate forgetting important details.

It is very important for the paperwork to be consistent and the student to fully understand everything gone over. It can become overwhelming but it is very important to review everything to help them, and yourself, be on the same page as far as how everything works. Most students that go to a college has never experienced all of this before, so I cannot agree more.

I agree Anthony. I am new to the field. The paperwork is a big step and is important for the student to see and understand all it contains. It's the first step of their commitment to their new life.

Staying focused on the task at hand is important when it comes to Dotting the "i's" and Crossing the "t's". It is important for you to fully understand the paperwork your potential student needs to sign, listen carefully to the students questions (active listening), and answer correctly so that a decision that is best for the student can be made before signing all paperwork. Education is an investment and just as personal banking is important so is the understanding of all paperwork associated with college enrollment.

By understanding the paperwork and the process, we are ensuring that our organization stands by what we represent. Taking the time to go over the paperwork with the students reinforces not only their knowledge but our own. Repetition is sometimes a plus.

Understanding the paperwork is very important, but equally important is to make sure that student undertands it as well.

Paperwork can be a hassle but when you have an understanding of the cycle you tend to gain appreciation for the people you work.

I tend to be very detail oriented. However, when one is in a hurry, one can forget very important things. In my personal life, forgetting to sign the back of a check to be deposited requires a second trip to the bank or credit union. This takes time and delays the process. Applying that our professional lives, just reminds me to slow down, and clearly look at what I am doing. I find that it is helpful to have a checklist as well.
