Understanding your product
It is very important that you understand your institution so that you know exactly what you are presenting to prospective students.
Excellent! Knowledge is key when presenting to prospective students. It is our job to make sure the program is a good fit for them.
You cannot accurately prepare your students for entrance into school unless you know the program and offerings well.
Most definitely. The prospective student is relying on your to share information about the school and they want to know exactly what is going to be expected of them to not only start, but also graduate. I also believe that any changes of curriculum or process to programs, that Academics should make Admissions aware right away so that we are not relying on old information to provide to the prospective student, but up to date and accurate information.
It is so important to convey that product knowledge accurately and professionally. Having this expertise will eliminate any misunderstandings and the potential of misinformation being passed on. Always remember, it does not hurt you as a representative to acknowledge you do not know some type of specific information the student has asked about. Assure them that while you may not know the answer, accurate information can be found from other specific resources within the school, and be sure to lead them to thosee resources.
Yes, understanding our product is crucial because how can we competently represent what our school offers if we do know fully understand what that is? The inside-out knowledge I have in regards to the programs and services we offer prove to be a valued resource in educating my prospective students. And the more that they are educated, the more prepared they are to be successful in their chosen field.
Thats a great point. I think that "knowledge of the product" is exactly what makes for a great sales man/sales woman
