keeping up to date with jobs

I think it's very important to keep up with employers. Students come to school not only to graduate, but to also find a career.

By keeping in contact with employers, and the want ads, you can assess what job fields are in demand and you can also work with career services in helping students find a career within their major.

Michelle ,

You are absolutely correct. It is very important to stay on top of what employers are looking for so that the schools can adequately prepare students.

Kimberly Stein

we are dedicated to helping our graduates find jobs after college. Not only will career services help them find a job right away but later if they lose a job they will help again. Its key to staying on top of what industries are hiring so that way you can continue to educate and prepare students.

Ditto. The old saying that knowlege is power applies here. The more you know about the current job market, the easier it it so promote programs and handle objections. You may also get more referrals by knowing the job market better.

Absolutely. I take pride in knowing as much as possible about opportunities upon graduation my students will have available to them. during the admissions interview i spend a great deal of time on the realistic opportunities they have available to them upon graduation, sacrafices they will need to make before advancing in the industry once they gain experience in the field.

absolutely. I used to refer students to local newspapers to see the job opportunities as part of their decision making process.

I completely agree. As it mentions, the main focus a perspective student has, is whether or not they can get a job upon graduation. Knowing the potential jobs for your programs, and keeping up with the community around your school and its companies, will help you speak to your student concerning thier biggest priority upon entering school

you are absolutely right, i think staying in touch with employers helps our students know what is coming when they are ready to interview

Our Career Sevices Department is always willing to let us know about everything going on out in the work force. We have up to date numbers and statistics and everytime someone gets into there new career we ring a bell.

i do agree with that prospective. I choose to belive that staying in the know when it comes to the employment feild.

If you're an Admissions Representative at a Career School, it's crucial to understand the job market. By knowing what careers your programs translate into as well as the market conditions of those careers you can speak much more intelligently on those topics.

By having the career industry information such as growth statistics, you can give a prospective student a great picture as to what he/she can expect.

i think looking daily at the want ads and internet searches would be great knowledge to have access to during your interviews

I agree, we try to have quarterly training with our career servises department to discuss current job opportunities and what employers are looking for. It also give the agents a chance to talk to career services about obsticles that may arise to to backgrounds etc.

It also allows the businesses in your area to get to know you. They are more likely to hire your graduates in the future if they can put your name with your position (or face, if appropriate). My JP director and I are constantly in the field passing out business cards and just saying "Hi" :)
