Know your student
I agree, it is important to know your student. We want to make a difference and impact the lives of each student.
This is crucial because your student will be more motivated, excited, and determined when they feel that you have their best interests in mind. It is easy to get lost in your educational path/career when others are not there motivating you or not making you feel special. When students start to feel like they are "just a number", the dedication may slowly fade, which is why partnership is so important.
One thing that I do is put my students phone number in my cell. When He or She calls me, when I answer the phone "Hey Tommy, whats happening", he feels like I really care about his welfare enough to know when he is calling.
Knowing your student is really the best way to figure out what program is best for them at your school. In addition as you are find out more about your student you are also finding out what their objections to enrolling in the school might be and how as an agent you can overcome those objections.
It is essential to know your student. Once you have built a relationship with your student he/she will trust you and know you are only looking out for their best intrest. It opens the door up to other avenues for the both of you. For the student, he/she will have support and encouragement to continue their education. For the recuriter, it opens doors up to a good reputation and possibly leads.
It is really important to get to know your student so that we can make sure that this school and the program they chose is going to be a good fit for him. Ask the important "why" questions. You should never push a student into a program just to get an enrollment.
The more key questions that are asked that get to the root and heart of the potential student's goals and passions help me as an agent better direct the student to the best program for them.
Knowing your student is vital to the admissions process. The student is the number one prority when it comes to admissions. Therefore, they should be treated as such. Helping students as much as possible during the admissions process will make their school experience better. We are here to help students succeed and the first step in doing this is to understand your student and what their needs are.
I agree with this and would like to see it become part of the policy for agents that do not work with leads/students at a face to face location to be able to travel to and spend several days interacting with students and staff.
Knowing the student is the best way to both help them and yourself. If you are sending students to places of employment and they just don't match that isn't good for anyone. The better the placement is the more repeat business you would get from the employer and the happier the student would be. Both will then speak well of the institution which will bring in more students.
Knowing the prospective student is key in trying to figure out what exactly it is that they want to do with their education. By listening and getting to know the student, you have a much better chance at helping them select the best type of education for their road ahead.
It is very important to know your students. This opens up the opportunity for you to build rapport and helps them gain your trust. This also helps with retention and leads to referrals.
I definitely agree that it is important to get to know your student as well as possible, but when should you be ocncerned that it is going too far? I feel like there is a fine line between getting to know them so you can make sure you are addressing their individual needs and then it turning into a counseling session.
Absolutely! Knowing the student is not only the key to success in admissions, but it is also important to the success of the school and the student. By knowing the student, your ability to help them through the admissions process becomes easier and you are more likely to build the trust and rapport that is required. Additionally, knowing your student allows them to make an informed decision about the program they choose to pursue.
It is vital to know my student. The key is for me to know everything about them and for them to know only a tiny bit about me. I believe it is important to maintain healthy boundaries with our students so that we can nurture and mutual respect. Lynda
It is absolutely essential to know your student. They will feel more comfortable with you and the school. If issues arise they will be more likely to confide in you, thus giving you the ability to help them through tough situations that may derail their education.
I agree, the time invested in knowing your students will pay off when working with them to enroll them in programs and classes, understanding there finanical background, what motivates them and many more things. These all play a big part in making life time changes in with your student.
We have our students fill out a personalized surevey to get to know them better and then spend time talking about the survey with the student
I agree. The students need to feel that they are not just a number.
I would say knowing your students is one of the crucial part to the success of the school. The students will have the feeling of support and community and that they would be more eager to strive harder in succeeding with their studies and graduating. It is also good for the school and staff, because it gives the sense of pride when ever a student graduates and accomplish the program.
