Most effective marketing programs for schools on a limited budget.

I think that a part that should be included in the actual training at your school is an interview with a student in each program. You can always get the idea of the ins and outs of the program at the school, but you can also get a true assessment of the program by a student in it.

understanding each department, will helps make the right choices for our potentional students in futhuring their education.

i feel nothing more is needed

Communication between the different departments in a school is essential to the success of the enrollment process. School meetings are needed to solidify this communication and also keep everyone involved updated about changes occuring within the various departments. In addition, I would like to find out more about the marketing procedures of my school.

I am interested in in-depth departmental functions and processes.

Jason:

This is a great suggestion. Some schools try to arrange alumni events to bring former students back to the school to talk about their experiences in the workplace. These alumni events would certainly be a great opportunity for the admissions staff to talk with these former students to become familiar with what happens to students after they enter the workplace.

The school that I work for does an excellent job of offering product training regularly with the department chairs. This is a time where the department chairs can really explain in detail what the schools of study are, what is vital in the programs that students must know, as well as what we, as representatives should emphasis on during the tours. This is a time also where we can ask the difficult questions that we have ran across from those students who where already aware of the individual programs. I firmly believe, that the more training an individual has, the more that they can benefit in their field of recruitment because they will be more knowledgeable about the areas.

As an agent, it is our responsibility to want to continue learning about our school at every opportunity that new information becomes available. Each department within a school presents an opportunity to learn something that may be a valuable nugget of information for a prospective student.

I am just learning the admissions position but I feel as time goes on I get a better understanding of my position and everyone elses it will be helpful. Once I create an organizational chart it will help me determine who does what in each department and which will assist me in learnign what each department does.

I agree that it is necessary to know the role of the other departments. It would also be beneficial to know of employeers that attend out Career Fair.

Understanding the ins and out of all of the other departments is very important...education, career servives, student services, academics, financial aid, etc. Meeting with the managers or department heads is important. You will be better equipped to answer students questions or know who to refer the student to. Sitting in classes is also important, so you understand the learning environment at your school. Professional development is also important, organizational skills, communication skills etc. My school requires employees to participate in professional development.

The Admissions Department is critical in bringing in new students but the recruiters are just a small piece of the puzzle. The whole school is the Admissions Department. Each faucet from student services, financial aid, instructors, employment, receptionist is the Admissions Department. What they do is a direct reflection on how good our programs are and how successful our students. It is therefore imperative to be very knowledgable about each of these pieces. The more you know the more benefit you can provide your prospective students.

The interview process would be of interest to me in the future.

i think the number one thing is knowing what your selling. When your confident about what your selling people feed off that and can tell its a good product. I also feel it is important to know everything about all departments where you work. This is something i haven't done is learning more of what each person does in each dept. from instructing to career resources

You should require entrance exam

you should make student take a entrance exam

I think it would be beneficial to have conversational examples of proper "in compliance" techniques to be utilized by agents.

I would really like to go out and see our graduated students in the actual workplace. I think that this realistic preview could be a great tool when painting a picture of what the job entails, quality of life associated with the position(s), as well as helping agents sound more knowledgeable and in tune with the programs offered at their institutions. Seeing our students in action would also make my goals very real! Seeing a student walk through the door for the first time, complete their enrollment, take their first class, walk across the stage at grad., and finally seeing them applying what they learned would be very rewarding as an admissions agent and would help me better convey my message of how important education really is.

Another area of the admissions process that I feel would be of interest to me is the classes themselves. I feel as though we as admissions reps are often oblivious to what the students do once they have been enrolled in the school. Having more of an understanding for the course work and schedule can help with confidence, as well as ensure that we know our product.
