Earning Credits vs. Transferring Credits

The school that I work for is a work-from-home art program in which the students can earn college credits. The problem that we run into is that parents want to know how many credits will they earn for completing our program. We tell them that it is recommended for "up to 24". Since it is up to the college or university that they will later be attending, we can't answer know for sure. Also, if they go and ask that college or university, well, what do you expect them to say? "Sure, go ahead and take that course instead of ours and when you're finished, we would love to give away our credits instead of you earning them here." Not likely. I understand that we are a different program than most, so this is a unique situation. However, we can't really "encourage" them to go around and ask colleges and universities about credits because no one in their right mind would tell them to take our course first.

I would like to learn more about Prior Learning Assessments and how they are affective for students who use them and if they transfer in as credit.

its importint to understand that we are a different program and that different polices need to be followed.
