Policies

It is good to make sure that the school and the personnel envolved understand key policies to ensure the best outcome for the school and the students.

Understanding policies and procedures is important for all personnel for the sucess of the school and to ensure that there will be no violations of federal or state law or anything that may potentially put the institution at risk for any type of negative consequences

I believe all staff should be be aware of comon policies and proceedure to keep the school a single unit and working together to help the student. Everyone who is on the same page can also answer questions in the absence of others.

I agree with this! It is very important for ALL personnel be well informed. When personnel is well informed it leads to a successful outcome for the students and their families. It also provides the impression of cohesivness within the company and it looks very credible to students and families because it we are all saying the same thing.

All should be familiar with the policies and procedures. If a student is asking a question that the representative is not familiar with, not only should proper information be obtained and provided to the student, but a reassurance to the student as to why the question may not be answered at that time.

I especially agree with your comment about all personnel acting as one and not providing fragmented answers.

If a rep doesn't know the answer to a question, don't just hand the potential student off to someone at a different level within the company.Find out the approved company response.

i agree a lot of great info to know and learn so that the school does not lose license

All personnel in each department should understand the policies/procedures to ensure all information that's giving to prospective student.

I feel that this is a key issue for all schools. To help guarantee the best outcome for our students , the personnel needs to be aware, educated and updated on a regular bases of all key policies. The personnel needs to be acting as one, not having fragmented answere to the students questions. This will cause a student to go to different levels to get an answer and cause negative feelings towards the institution. Schools need to keep personnel on top of policies and any changes that go into effect.

It is more than good, it is necessary to make sure everyone understands these policies. Without this happening schools could lose accreditation. Plus ethically it would not be right to misinform students or potential students.

Yes, we must all be aware of policies. These not only protect the student, but protect the school as well. I feel that some policies, such as the Do Not Call and Higher Ed Act, and Canspam, are not focused on enough during initial training for new employees, especially admissions reps. People who are being on-boarded should not only be taught what to do, but also what NOT to do.

The students are our number one priority and we must make sure that we are thoughly educated in all policies to ensure the best outcome for the school and the students.

Richard,

These are good questions. You can find general information about Do-Not-Call and Can-Spam restrictions on the internet. In general, if a student contacts you directly through your website you can contact them directly since they have initiated the contact. After you have contacted the student, if they request that you no longer contact them, you should remove them from any contact lists you maintain.

In regards to your question about "recruitment across state borders", it will depend on the state where the student resides but most states only govern recruiting activities if a school maintains some type of physical presence in their state. Thus, if your recruiters are actually going into another state to recruit it is more likely that there would be some type of registration requirement. The answer may also depend on whether the student initiated the contact. I would recommend checking with the state where the student resides if you have specific questions.

With regard to laws and regulations regarding telemarketing and spam, where can one find specific language concerning what constitutes telemarketing and spam? Our school responds to requests for information posted to our Website from in-state and out-of-state prospects. When the school attempts to follow up with the propect by telephone and/or e-mail how is that activity governed by the laws and regulations? I believe our follow up procedures are "reasonable" but would like to better understand any limitations. Also, what constitutes "recruitment across state borders"? Our school operates one campus in central Ohio. No distance learning is provided. Does responding to an inquiry constitute recruiting?

I agree with this! It is very important for ALL personnel be well informed. When personnel is well informed it leads to a successful outcome for the students and their families. With little problems along the way!
