Recruiting
How can we improve recruting
Wee need to build strong relationships with our students. Relationships that are built on trust and honesty. We take the attitude that our school is just one option for the student and we work with them to make sure it is a viable option for them.
Find better ways of advertising in positive ways. Not just on commercials during questionable programing or in the middle of the night.
Recruitment for me is making sure that I’m servicing our students by giving them factual information and following compliance so that I can assist a potential student in improving their life.
As a rep, I’m well informed, knowledgeable and ethical and keep up with given changes. I agree that compliance must be followed to safeguard all parties. Therefore ongoing training is a must. I’m a firm believer that “Education makes the world go round†therefore it’s my job to ensure that the prospective students have all, accurate facts to make an informative decision.
As an Outreach Rep it is vital to be ethical and disclose all the information necessary for the prospective student to make a good decision. It is important for the recruiter/outreach rep to have the best interest of the student at heart and to not misrepresent his/her school.
by following the rules set forth by governing agencies and school policies so as to prevent violations and loss of accreditation.
Jorelle,
This is a great suggestion. Good insight!

I agree that we need to follow the policies that our school has in place. We must lissen to our prospective students to find out what they want out of our school, what their dreams are, then help them reach them.
I believe that a great way to improve recruiting would be to have more visible communications from various employers who have found success in hiring recent college grads. I believe that if more students knew from the potential employers prospective things to look for or work on; they would view an investment in education a little differently.
Follow the guidelines and make sure reps adhere to the policies. Treat prospective students with respect and remember you are there to help them
I agree that knowledge and ethics go hand in hand.As a recruiter I believe it is my responsibility to be informative and honest so the student can make a confident and educated decision for their education.

Improve Recruiting - the best way to improve recruiting besides being sincere is to be very ethical. The key is to provide more than enough information to each student so they can make an educated decision when enrolling. Also, never respond to a question if you do not know the answer. Potential students will truly appreciate the fact that you are honest if you do not know the answer. Be the best in customer service. Never over promise, always over deliver.
There are always going to be ways to improve recruiting; especailly with the advancement of technology there is plenty of room to find ways to use these tools more efficently. At the school I work at it seems like a lot of time is wasted because no one in the position to do so is trying to organize and implament a way to track leads, current students, protental re-entrys, etc with any sort of consistancy where notes and other relative information about the student are in a collective place where we can have access to them or add new updated info. I feel if this was fixed their would be less time wasted, the different departments and reps would would be able to work together more effectivly to do our jobs, as well as be able to avoid those phone calls to students, re-entrys and prosective students where we sound uninformed and unprofessional.
It is important to be upfront with the student on the phone & in person. Potential students need to be ablel to trust you from the start.
We must always keep our focus on the customer service aspect of recruiting. If we are compliant, ethical, and honest about our processes and expectations, then the student will be more willing to trust in us as their education provider.
One of the most effective means for Recruiting is to place the prospective students needs as the top priority. Treat them as you would handle YOUR family and friends if you were taking them through the process at your school.
Barbara well stated. It's all about providing the students with tools and information up front that will be instrumental to their success. Rapport is essential, the student must feel you have their bebst interest at heart and that you truly hear what they are saying, and as a result of that chemistry, you now have an engaging interview.
Being compliant and ethical are essential. You should provide all the needed information to ensure that the prospective student is able to make an informative decision.
One way to improve recruiting is to act like you care. If you engage in active listening and ask more open-ended and reflective questions it will make the prospective student have to actually think about what is best for them. We cannot make that decision for them. If your school doesn't fit what they need to meet their goals don't try to introduce a program to them that isn't going to get them to where they want to be.
Being on the same page with any updates as they occur is very important. Meetings and training are an important part of that process.
