In today's environment, our customers (students) are much more sophisticated than before. I read somewhere, that the potential students are looking for a mentor to help them get back into school. Being transparent and honest with our potential customers is the key to building a good relationship built on trust. No one listens to someone they DON'T trust.
I agree! We pride ourselves on integrity and honesty. The last few years have been a little rough due to many people not being financially stable. We do our best to help them figure out options and help them with the process and although they may not be able to make it work at this time, they are VERY thankful for our help, our honesty and the time we take to break down the process.
I agree that it is extremely important to be upfront and honest with students. Being untruthful will only cause problems for the school, the representative, and possibly the institution. If I do not have an answer for a students question, I make sure I go to a reputable source and find the answer rather than providing them with misleading information.
I agree being matter of fact with students is the best way to be because they know things go by the book and dont have to worry about having issues later
I totally agree with the statement that we should always be upfront and clear about all and everything concerning the student's future at the school and what to expect. I would want the same done for me. That is in fact my style. As an Admissions Advisor the more I learn the more I can give informed and up to date knowledge to my prospective and current students.
It is always important to remember your resources and to admit when you don’t have the answer to a particular question. Being able to go to another individual that has or knows where to locate the correct information leaves a far better impression than giving incorrect information. Along with the impression left by giving incorrect (or misleading) information it may also lead to consequences not only for the institution but also personally. If your honest answer is not what the student was looking to hear then maybe they are not the right fit for your institution.
I believe in honesty, with all students to give them to best information to make an accurate and stable decision for their education, which will enhance their chances for success
We really need to stress the importance of earning a degree. The potential benefits in most cases far out weigh the negatives of having to pay off a student loan.
The student needs to understand the repercussions of not faithfully paying off their student loan. Going into default can cause a lot more headache than the individual anticipates.
Covering all the details and discussiong with students all the options that are available is a must. There is a fine line between encouraging students to take a close look at your school and misrepresenting the facts in order to increase enrollment
Daily practice in our position requires that our statements to prospective students are true and fact by written policy.
I agree with this statement. It is important to give students the facts up front. A college education is an important investment. Students should be aware of what to expect when taking out student loans whether they are private or federal loans.
