Competitor
What is some of the methods you use when students say that others schools have slandered our school?
When a competitor is slandering your school it is best to ask the prospect why they think that is being done. Why is the competitor talking about something they may know nothing about instead of what they should know a lot about....their institution.
I have always believed that it is the individual that makes the decision on what they want to do, not the institution. If a company, institution or school decides to slander another identity then the integrity of the identity needs to be in question. I present the individual information that helps them make the right decision and make sure they understand that is why they are here.
We encourage our Admissions reps to keep a positive attitude and redirect the conversation to what our program offers. You can clear up the negative comments by presenting the facts about the school and programs.
I usuallly state that if another school is slandering our school, I ask the studnet to think twice about the integrity of that recruiter and the integrity of that school for allowing that recruiter to slander.
Be direct and honest, and remember never to stoop to there level. Apologize that others feel this way and try to give an explanation of what was said about the school. Sometimes a student just needs to be re-assured that they are making the right choice.
I simply reply. You have to make that decision on your own. Speak to faculty members sit in class before you make assumptions.
First, I like to remind them that no matter what you do, you can't please everyone!! You will find good and bad reviews on any product.I also like to let them know that I am not here to talk badly about any other schools, and that I am here to help you figure out if WE might be the right fit for you. We are not made for everyone, and that is okay. Let me show you how this all works and let's see if that fits with you.
I agree with this statement. Students are allowed to have their own opinions about our school but I would rather focus on the positives of our school and how we can help them.
I normally just tell the student that we're not in the business of discussing other schools on a negative level, then turn around and show the student exactly how much more beneficial our school will be to them than their previous school.
