Effective Communication With Email

Most of my customers find my company through our website. We have a form which they can complete if they are interested in our program. Often - the prospective student does not want to provide a telephone number - so email is my only option.

What I have taken from this lesson is to avoid the typical emotion icons which are frequently used in casual conversation.

My own experience has taught me to keep information brief and organized. Long email messages seem to lose the interest of the reader - and potentially lose the opportunity to earn the business.

I actually like to include short but sweet key factors in my emails. I also use attention getters such as something special that may be going on that I don't want them to miss.

Nancy, that is an excellent way to draft a response. After every interview, I go through my notes and personalize my follow up email. For example, a student came in on Friday and was talking about how both of her sons play football. In my follow up I told her I hoped both of her son's teams would do well in their games tomorrow.

Nancy, What a great practice! Thank you for sharing!

When replying to email, I always go back to the original email after I draft a response to see that I have answered every question asked. It is easy to think I remembered, only to discover another question I had not addressed.

Evie, That is a great goal. What specifically do you do to secure their attention?

I want to make sure my prospects do not loose interest with my email I want to get there attention

andrea,
I am glad you learned knew things, as well! Can you share an example of how you will use one of the new techniques you learned?
Dr. Jean Norris

Communicating effectively through emails was difficult for me.I am glad I learned some new techniques because I would usually go out my way to speak to people in person.

Chester,
Thank you for sharing and great awareness. One can easily express what they need to say in a concise message, and even create a little urgency so that the reader will want to reply!
